Much here that is new, also is old. In January 2013, Heart founding guitarist Roger Fisher used a photograph I shot in 1979 to illustrate the invitation he sent to select friends and fans, offering access to special, early release tickets to that year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Los Angeles. I forwarded the invitation to my editor, sparking the assignment that produced Old Time Rock 'n Roll: an 8-page photo feature built around some of my 1970s and early '80s rock shots. More recently, a company producing a pair of documentaries on the life and political career of Admiral, Viet Nam-era POW, and Alabama Senator Jeremiah Denton, contacted me for photos. The first documentary (which used the B&W photo above) aired on Alabama Public Television in November 2015.

I created this 2012 figure study as an illustration for a digital imaging workshop session. Asked to expand my Photoshop Restorations presentation, I began experimenting with a set of out-takes: photos I'd not thought worth printing when shot.

The detail shot of Claire Robitaille's sculpture is part of an ongoing redesign of ClaireRobitaille.com. I created the site as a temporary, online guide to her Florida and Quebec exhibitions. She decided to maintain a web presence. The site's original configuration had outlived its usefulness: thus the redesign — and the need for new photos and slide shows.

The online version of Old Time Rock and Roll on http://www.mobilebaymag.com lacks some of the visual appeal of the print-magazine article. But it includes a few photos that were deleted from the original print article due to space restrictions.

My Gallery department is now in its 28th year; my history with Business Alabama goes back almost as far. With time for freelancing restricted by my full-time university job, I've not ventured elsewhere in recent years. That will change when I retire from the day job. In the interim, I'm always open to queries from editors.

Business Alabama's 2012 Relocation Guide special issue: cover photo by Adrian Hoff. Figure photo from 2012 Photoshop workshop session: link to Figures inteo page. In January, Heart’s founding guitarist, Roger Fisher sent an invitation to select friends and fans for the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It was essentially a photo I shot at a Gulf Coast concert in 1979. I forwarded it to MB editor Lawren Largue with a tongue in cheek request to be sent to Los Angeles to cover the nationally televised event (to be broadcast on HBO on May 18). That dialogue morphed into this nostalgic glimpse at a few of the rock and rollers whom I met, photographed and interviewed in the ’70s and early ’80s. -
